SemNotes is a note-taking tool for KDE. It makes use of the semantic framework provided by Nepomuk to create links between the notes and other desktop resources that are mentioned in the note.
I've been working on SemNotes for a long time now, almost completely refactoring and redesigning it several times. When I started I had not used Qt before, and this was a small project to familiarize myself with the language. I knew some basic C++ programming, but it still took some time to discover the possibilities of Qt, and with every (major) discovery came a new improvement in SemNotes. It is still work in progress, and I still have much to discover in Qt .. and in KDE for that matter.
At the same time I was also discovering semantics, and the possibilities there.
UI design is another field of numerous experiments with SemNotes. The initial look was kinda boring and not too pretty, but it improved a lot thanks to the hard work of Daivee Patel with guidance from Paul Hibbitts of Hibbitts Design, during the Season of Usability 2009.
Credit for the pretty icon goes to Riccardo Iaconelli (aka ruphy) who designed it during Akademy 2008 in Belgium.
